Basic Function: Responsible for management of Business Loan Portfolio, New Business Loan and Depository Activities. Assist Chief Lending Officer with credit underwriting process by accurately and timely underwriting moderately complex commercial loan applications delivered by the Commercial Lender/Consumer Loan Officers/Bankers. Administrator of SBA and other special loan programs. Represent the Bank on various economic and community development groups at the direction of the Chief Executive Lending Officer.
Enhance customer relationships by being proactive in reinforcing sales culture and providing exceptional customer service. Communicate effectively with Bankers, Lenders and Loan Department as this position serves as a critical liaison between these three departments
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage Business Loan Portfolio.
- Actively solicit new business opportunities with both existing and new customers using customer service sales techniques.
- Analyze and make loan decisions/recommendations according to lending authority. Operate within Bank Credit Policy at all times. Review and recommend changes to policy when appropriate.
- Maintain profitable business relationships through prompt, quality service, along with an active and effective call program. Manage business and mortgage loan portfolios to keep loan losses, past dues, and watch list credits at a minimum. Work to achieve profitability on all credit relationships.
- Keep abreast of programs which will assist in the enhancement of quality of life in the minority community such as Small Business Administration (SBA), Department of City Development (DCD), Milwaukee County, WHEDA, etc.
- Assist Chief Lender with credit underwriting process and customer service.
- Display professionalism and competency while serving as Bank's representative in various community efforts, at the direction of the Chief Executive Lender.
- Assist in the development and serve as implementer of special loan programs administered by the Bank.
- Meet or exceed established sales goals and provide necessary service to customers.
- Participate in various Bank wide activities and committees.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Problem Solving:
The incumbent manages all facets of assigned accounts from credit application through repayment or charge off and subsequent collection efforts of settlement. This requires detailed analyses preliminary to a credit decision - analysis of the borrower's statements, comparative analysis with companies of similar character; appraisal of the company's management and method of operation, its products and markets. The incumbent utilizes the investigation and analytical service of other credit reporting agencies in conjunction with his/her own analyses. Terms of the loan are arranged with the borrower, including interest rates, required deposit balances, and repayment schedules. Through an active and effective call program, the incumbent has responsibility to protect existing profitable balances and encourage deposit growth for non-borrowing as well as borrowing accounts, and develop new business from prospects as well as other additional service from existing accounts.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities required:
- College degree in Accounting or Finance.
- A minimum of 3 years of lending experience.
- Complete technical knowledge of all retail and commercial services and products, as well as the ability to sell the proper product(s) for a particular customer's circumstances.
- Thorough knowledge of credit analysis and extensive lending skills; understanding of credit policies and procedures.
- Possess well developed written/verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of various Bank policies, to include service charge assessments and compliance issues.
