A Commitment to the Community — Supporting community development and economic growth has been a focal point for NMSBank since its founding in 1971. NMSBank is a full service bank that values its customer relationships.
NMSBank — we're not your typical financial institution.
Our depth is rooted in over 40 years of community investment. Despite the many barriers the Civil Rights movement had broken down, opportunity to achieve financial growth and empowerment still appeared to be lacking within the minority community of Milwaukee, WI. A group of concerned entrepreneurs and professionals sought out to fix this disparity by establishing Wisconsin’s first full-service minority owned bank in 1971: NMSBank ( North Milwaukee State Bank).

Our commitment today mirrors that of our founders in 1971—a promise of financial empowerment and support to the communities we serve through:
- Community development and economic growth,
- Personal and business advancement,
- Increasing home ownership, and
- Financial education
Our reach permeates individuals, businesses, faith-based institutions and education systems. We have collaborated to shape economic development initiatives on every level of government in Wisconsin. Additionally, many of our staff members serve on boards of community-based organizations from social service agencies, neighborhood housing concerns, economic development corporations, and education initiatives.
